Doug Aitken: Electric Earth at MOCA Geffen

Hit up my IG to see an immense archive of art shows I’ve visited!

Doug Aitken at MOCA Geffen was an incredible and dynamic exhibit. I believe Aitken to be a true Renaissance. His talents are full spectrum. From cinema to installation to sculpture, everything was so aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. His work really touches upon your senses.

LA PERGOLAS : Oliver Hess

If you’ve ever driven on US101 through downtown Los Angeles or walked above the overpass on West Aliso street, you couldn’t miss this spine like metal sculpture. Underneath the span are colorful LED lights that subtly light the night. One of the main brain child’s of this project is Oliver Hess. We have been friends and neighbors at Keystone Art Studios currently in Glassell Park. Oliver happens to be one of the most humble cerebral geniuses I know. He runs Aperiodic Industries, a company that engineers some of Oliver’s creative endeavors.

This day a few friends gathered to help him paint La Pergolas using laser cut magnetic stencils. We spray painted camouflage layers of grey and silver to add texture to the steel.  To read more about this project: http://aperiodic-industries.com/projects/la-pergolas-build/

Friends With You: INNER SPACE, THE SECRETS OF THE UNKNOWN

I love FriendsWithYou, this group makes the cutest art.  I wish I was able to catch this show at Basel 2011, FWY are such the minimalist and they make all sorts of products!  From mini sculps, prints and tees.

FriendsWithYou exhibits its latest sculptures, precious objects, and a new edition of prints. The pieces on display are figurative self-reflective treasures, levitating in a space continuum, revealing something other wise inaccessible. These archetypes and symbolic artifacts are frozen in time, and serve to empower, relate, and offer everything that is infinite and true. Inner Space, the Secrets of the Unknown provides a way of observing ourselves and finding out everything we always knew.

Invitation Design

Just completed an invitation design for my company Computers & Structures. We have an annual themed party at city hall where civil engineers and friends come all over the globe to help us celebrate our technology that is so widely used to help architectural marvels.  With this year’s them being Moulin Rouge,  I took rustic Parisian sensibilities with a spit of contemporary design and voila!  We love what foil can do.
